This is the other card that I made for Jen and I also decided to play along with Mary Jo Price – Williams sketch challenge at Techno Stamper.  Both of the sketchesI did today I saved in my sketches folder on my computer.  Using a sketch saves a lot of time, and kind of jump starts the creative process.  I took these pictures outside on my little patio today.  It is a nice, bright sunshiney day here, even though it is hotter than heck!

As you can see, I am in kind of a lavender/purple mood today.  I absolutely love my new filing system for storing paper scraps.  Every thing is neat and organized, and I can find things so quickly and I find myself reaching for that instead of new paper, so they are really getting used up!  Love it!

Well this chickadee is ready for some lunch.  Here is a link to Mary Jo’s blog and the sketch.  Make it a great day!  Elaine

CPS #269 Card Sketch Challenge

Filed under: Cards — elainemwilson @ 6:16 pm

Happy Monday!  I am happy because I get to be in the air conditioning today and also that I have no plans for today until tonight and I can play today!  YEAH!  Susie Smith was over this morning to pick up the church key and for a short visit.  After she left, I started working on cards and I made this for the Card Positioning System Challenge #269.  This is the sketch we were to follow:

and here is a link if you would like to see the players cards or to play along your self!

I decided to kill two birds with one stone as they say, and I used a Verve: Plain Jane verse.  Jenna asked me to make some scripture cards for her so this is one of the cards I will give to her, and so will be the card on the next post I am doing as I am playing along on another challenge for that one.  It feels great to actually have some time to play along.  It has been quite the year for our family will lots of health issues.  It is nice to have everyone healthy right now!  🙂  Stay Cool!!!  Elaine

Happy Sunday!  This gal is tired out.  I had supper with Jenna and the kids after the flea market.  I am feeling kind of congested.  Too much outdoors this weekend I think.  I will be heading to bed shortly, I don’t have any umph to do anything so might as well go to bed!

Mason and Valentina hit pay dirt today when Grammy found them their very own little tikes covered sand box/swimming pool that is shaped like a truck.  It has holes on the side that they can crawl through like a tunnel and sit on the seat in the “cab” of the truck and turn the steering wheel.  Sandbox is the flat bed of the truck, and the cover which looks like a dump box is a swimming pool.  Very cool and I got a great deal on it at the flea market.  I will post some pictures of Mason playing in it when I get it all cleaned up and filled with sand.

This is a simple card I made.  The grey card base is embossed with a wood grain embossing folder by Darice.  Click on the picture to see it in more detail.  I just love it.  The designer paper is some retired paper from SU, that is mounted on Old Olive Card Stock.  I cut out a tag with a Sizzix tag die and stamped it with a Verve: Plain Janes stamp.  Last but not least is my thrift shop baker’s twine.  For those of you who have seen my huge cone of it, know I will be making cards and tags with it for the next 100 years!  LOL  You can get your very own package of it at the flea market for your own stash!!!

Trust in the LORD… June 3, 2012

Hello all!   As many of my followers know, I can’t throw anything I think is useful in the trash.  Some might call me a pack rat.  I like to think of it as a way of recycling or up cycling…whatever you wish to call it.   I am always finishing things out of Di’s throw away pile when I am out there.  She throws out the bestest stuff!!!   The day I made this card I made a bunch of background sheets using different sized strips of paper out of my scrap drawer.  I am still on a mission to widdle it down some.  I cut a piece a card stock 4″ x 5 1/4″, then use some thin cheap stuff or a color you don’t like as none of it will show.   I run adhesive around the edge of all four sides of the card stock, then I run about three rows down the middle section.  I go through my strips and grab a bunch that are pleasing to the eye, usually in the same color family or maybe two or three color families.  You can get as mixey matchy as you would like.  I start at the top of the sheet so that I get them started in a straight row, and I work my way down the sheet.  I was showing them to Diane the other night and she couldn’t believe how smooth they felt when she ran her hand down it.  And they will, if you are careful when you line them up.  I don’t cut them the exact size before applying them, I leave them long and then flip it over and cut them off after they are attached.  As they say, waste not…want not!  Any whoo…it is a good way to use up some strips and make some interesting background papers.  If you do a bunch ahead like I did, then you can just grab one when you want to make a card.  I also made smaller pieces  so that I could use up some smaller strips, and some of the smaller ones I die cut into tags and they look really cool.  I am not sure if I will make them into tags or use them on cards.

Lovely weather day.  I enjoyed every minute of it at the flea market today.  A perfect temperature, and nice breeze…I wish all days were like today!  Stop down and say hello!!  Elaine

Happy start of the weekend!  I have been gone more than home this week and most of the week has been spent with Jenna and the grand babies.  It is so very nice to have them living here.  I love every minute of it!  They are growing so fast.  Mason will be 22 months on the 18th of this month, and Valentina will be 9 weeks old on Sunday.    Mason is talking up a storm and one of his latest antics is that he “pretends” to be swatting mosquito’s and he will say “I got it!” and then you have to take the pretend dead mosquito off of his hand (as he doesn’t like dirty hands!) LOL  Jenna said that Antonio and her were just cracking up when he first started doing it, after about two hours of it, she said it got old, as she smiled.  He is just something else!  Valentina is cooing and loves to be smiled and talked too.  She loves to sit in Grammies arms being rocked in the recliner and she likes watching Sesame Street, watching her brother, and smiling at Grandma.  We took the kids to County Market tonight, and Valentina slept while we had ice cream.  She is such a good baby and some days I can just see her change overnight!  I said this to Jenna today that I thought she really looked different from yesterday, and she said she had thought that too.  Ahhhh….the joy of grand children!  You just can’t beat it!
