Hello all! As many of my followers know, I can’t throw anything I think is useful in the trash. Some might call me a pack rat. I like to think of it as a way of recycling or up cycling…whatever you wish to call it. I am always finishing things out of Di’s throw away pile when I am out there. She throws out the bestest stuff!!! The day I made this card I made a bunch of background sheets using different sized strips of paper out of my scrap drawer. I am still on a mission to widdle it down some. I cut a piece a card stock 4″ x 5 1/4″, then use some thin cheap stuff or a color you don’t like as none of it will show. I run adhesive around the edge of all four sides of the card stock, then I run about three rows down the middle section. I go through my strips and grab a bunch that are pleasing to the eye, usually in the same color family or maybe two or three color families. You can get as mixey matchy as you would like. I start at the top of the sheet so that I get them started in a straight row, and I work my way down the sheet. I was showing them to Diane the other night and she couldn’t believe how smooth they felt when she ran her hand down it. And they will, if you are careful when you line them up. I don’t cut them the exact size before applying them, I leave them long and then flip it over and cut them off after they are attached. As they say, waste not…want not! Any whoo…it is a good way to use up some strips and make some interesting background papers. If you do a bunch ahead like I did, then you can just grab one when you want to make a card. I also made smaller pieces so that I could use up some smaller strips, and some of the smaller ones I die cut into tags and they look really cool. I am not sure if I will make them into tags or use them on cards.
Lovely weather day. I enjoyed every minute of it at the flea market today. A perfect temperature, and nice breeze…I wish all days were like today! Stop down and say hello!! Elaine
