A place to share all the things I love!

A quick card June 15, 2012

I should be in bed but as you can see I am not.  I am about ready to head there, but thought I would do a quick post.  I didn’t have time to do any card making today but I keep some photo’s of things I’ve made in reserve so that I always have something to post.  I went to Tomah today with Lady Di to her doctor’s appointment and then we went over to Walmart to do some shopping.  I needed to pick up some more aqua spray paint, and hopefully the weather will be cooperative so that I can finish up that project.  It was too windy this afternoon when I got home to spray.  We had a delicious lunch at the Chinese buffet.  We like to eat there when we go to Tomah.   Have a wonderful Friday!  Elaine

Recipe: Stamp Set, PTI:Script Sentiments, SU Eyelet Border Punch, Tim Holtz border die, Thrift shop Baker’s Twine, Card stock and DSP SU.

Good Morning!  It is time for another challenge at Papertrey ink!  Here is the link to the post if you would like to play along or watch the video.   http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2012/06/make-it-monday-69-inspiration-into-unique-sketches.html   Nicole talks about how she uses every day objects as inspiration to make sketches.  There are several sketches to choose from this week and this is the one I chose to use.

This sketch is based on the scrapbook page she saw on the left.  This is a pretty easy sketch and could be done so many different ways.  For this week’s challenge, you need to use at least one Papertrey ink product and one of the sketches.

I try and use as many Papertrey ink products as I can when I participate.  I decided to use the PTI bookmark die for the banners.  I flipped it upside down on the card and then put brads in where the die cuts the hole to thread a ribbon or cord through the top of the bookmark.  Adding the brad to the bookmark banners immediately changed the look, and I don’t think anyone would realize it was a bookmark  unless you own it!   I also  free hand, paper pierced around them .  The sentiment “Just because” is from the PTI stamp set Script Sentiment.   I sponged around the sentiment with some Pumpkin Pie ink.   I also used PTI aqua mist card stock for the base (I am so in love with this color)  and I used the Flower Fushion #1 and #12 dies to make the paper flowers.  I cut stacks of  flowers out with the flower dies and old dictionary paper then poked a hole through them and added a brad to hold them together.  Then I crumpled each layer up in the center, one by one, till they were all covering the brad.  While they were still crumpled, I took a sponge dauber and Melon Mambo ink, and inked the edges, and I  used the dauber to curl and shape the petals at the same time, then I opened the petals back up.  I love how they turned out!   All other products used were from SU except for the brads.

I am headed to Flowerbuds this afternoon with a friend.  Make it a great day!  Elaine
